You’ve Ordered Your Wedding Dress, Now What

You’ve Ordered Your Wedding Dress, Now What

You’ve got the ring. You’ve got the wedding dress. But now what?

Before the wedding, there are many things you should do to make sure you are ready for the big day.

1.  Practice Hair & Make-Up

Get wedding hair makeup and hair ideas from Ready or Knot's Hitched Happy Hour

4-6 weeks before the ceremony, book a trial run with your stylist and makeup artist. Know what you want and make sure to bring your headpiece or veil with you!  Remember there won’t be time for a do-over on your wedding day & you want to love your hair and makeup on the day of your wedding. (This was one of the single best things my best friend did for her wedding.  It successfully averted a wedding day crisis of epic proportions.)

2.  Pick your Shoes & Break Them In

Don't forget to break in your wedding heels 2-3 months prior to the big day!

We are a big believer in breaking in your wedding shoes. You don’t want to trip down the aisle or wear painstakingly uncomfortable shoes, so make sure you wear your wedding day shoes around the house while cleaning, doing dishes & laundry, etc. This will take at least 2-3 months to ensure that your feet won’t be killing you the day of your wedding  & that your blisters have time to heal.  Plus you’ll have your shoes ready when your wedding dress comes in so it can be properly altered!

3.  Under the Dress

What type of undergarments are you planning on wearing under your wedding dress?  Undergarments whether it be Spanx, a push up bra, or a corset will make a huge impact on how your wedding dress fits.  Don’t forget about color of these undergarments either.  Intending to wear blue (or some other color) underwear?  Double check and make sure your guest won’t see them too through your wedding dress. Plan ahead and have these pieces purchased before your wedding dress arrives so you have them available for your first fitting.

4.  Get Your Skin in Shape

Think ahead and start taking the steps to get you skin in shape for your big day.  Many procedures/treatments (microderm, chemical peels, etc.) take time to be effective so come up with a plan with your skin care professional several months in advance to have your skin glowing!

5.  Don’t Forget your Jewelry & Accessories

Don’t wait until the week of your wedding to look for the perfect set of earrings or just the right necklace to go with your wedding dress.  First, check with your family (& the groom’s) to see if there are any heirloom pieces you can use.  If you aren’t that lucky – come on in to Ready or Knot and check out our selection of accessories & veils.  Visit our Hitched Happy Hour on March 8th from 5-7 to see all your styling options!
