Wedding Cake Alternatives – Part One

Wedding Cake Alternatives – Part One

Although many of us (myself included) love wedding cake, we know that there are brides (& grooms) that prefer something other than the traditional wedding cake.  So if buttercream frosting doesn’t make you swoon, here are a couple of sweet alternatives:

Nothing Bundt Cake

We loved the cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes in One Pacific Place

From Nothing Bundt Cakes

We were sold on these when Nothing Bundt Cake brought these by for our Grand Opening.  Although still technically cake it does have its own unique twist.  With lots of flavors (including some fabulous seasonal ones) you can serve individual bundlets (see picture) or have a cake for each table (encourage guest to get up and explore all the flavors).  Our favorites are Chocolate Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Raspberry.  The frosting is just as decadent as the cake.

Let your guests try all the flavors with bite sized pieces

Macarons

Macarons from Jones Bros. Cupcakes

We found these great wedding cake alternatives at Jones Bros. Cupcakes, one of the only places in Omaha that sells them. Macarons or French Macarons (not to be confused with the coconut cookie macaroon) are made using almond or hazelnut flour, eggs, superfine & powdered sugars. Made in house, these macarons have really gained popularity lately.  Their flavors include: Vanilla bean, Lemon, Chocolate, Mocha, Caramel, Orange, Pistacio, Blueberry and monthly flavors. Look at all these colors, wouldn’t they be adorable at any wedding?

Remember, this is your day, make whatever you would want to eat! Let your dessert choices reflect you & your groom’s personalities.  Your guests will enjoy it no matter what.

Stay tuned for more cake alternatives!
