Bridesmaid Dresses // How to Wear them Again // Part 1
We are so excited to introduce a brand new series here at Ready or Knot. We are putting the old adage of “You can wear this bridesmaid dress again” to the test. We have asked the fabulously talented & super fashionable Natalie Navis of Sequined Silver Lining to help us out in our quest & guest author this blog post.
The Challenge
Jocelyn and I selected four bridesmaid dresses from Ready or Knot, including one from each of the lines she carries, making sure to vary the lengths, fabrics, and styles. Jocelyn recommended that I style the dresses at two nearby boutiques: Chocolate Peacock and Piper. I have spent a lot of time at Piper, but Chocolate Peacock is a new one for me! Without selecting any pieces beforehand, I had about one hour to visit both shops and style the dresses using inventory from each store. I was surprised at how easy it was to quickly pull together entirely new looks based on four very different bridesmaid dresses. For the first post I will feature 2 dresses with attire from Chocolate Peacock. All photo credits to my very talented friend and photographer, Cassondra of Sammy and Me Photography.
The Result
Dress 1: Jenny Yoo Quinn in Mist Blue
I wanted to dress this first dress down by bringing in some western influences because Chocolate Peacock’s inventory definitely reflects this huge trend right now. I added a soft off-white fringed cardigan (by Ya Los Angeles, $58), a feather necklace (by Scarlett Garnet, $66), and a feather ring ($24). The knee socks by Hue and Maryn wedge boots by Steven by Steve Madden are my own. I love the contrast of the sweet tulip skirt and sweetheart neckline with the casual, laid-back western accessories– the mix is perfect for a dinner out!

Dress 2: Anna Elyse Clarissa in Silk Dupioni in Fog
I restyled this classic, full-skirted strapless dress with a holiday party in mind. Chocolate Peacock was full of accessories for this kind of event, including this black sequin cardigan (by Reneec, $68), black jeweled rope necklace ($36), and charcoal clutch (by Vendo, $66). I added Madewell swiss dot tights and Nine West black suede wedge pumps with an ankle strap of my own. I tied the rose belt that is removable from the dress around the cardigan to define my waist. Restyling the dress to be worn as a skirt ensures that it is nearly unrecognizable the second time around. This look is understatedly festive yet chic, demonstrating that a bridesmaid dress can be restyled for another fancy event, but in a completely different way.
