Bridesmaid Dresses // How to Wear it Again // Part 2

Bridesmaid Dresses // How to Wear it Again // Part 2

Our guest blogger – Natalie Navis from Sequined Silver Lining is back today with two more bridesmaid dresses to re-style.  Today she is using items from Piper in One Pacific Place.

The Results // Day 2

Dress 3: Jenny Yoo’s Dylan in Imperial Violet

Jenny Yoo - Dylan

This one shoulder dress with ruffle detail is an easily re-wearable dress because of its modern silhouette and simple detailing.  I chose to dress it down for a Spring or Summer soiree, using of-the-moment trendy pieces from One Pacific Place’s new store – Piper.  These include a Tolani Chakra square scarf ($89) (a major trend right now), studded black leather bracelet ($20), gold feather bracelet ($16), leather bow bracelet ($20), purple leather bow ring ($14), pink braided rope bracelet ($12), and gold bow belt ($15).  Not visible in the picture are my black suede over-the-knee boots by Steven by Steve Madden.  This casual, edgy look is ideal for day or night.

Dress 4: Amsale’s Chiffon G660C in Vanilla

Amsale - G660C in Vanilla

The Amsale line is my absolute favorite at Ready or Knot because it is unbelievably flattering on every body type, and also has a soft, feminine feel that is ethereal coming down the aisle.  I was excited to restyle this otherwise warm weather dress with cold weather accessories so you can see that a light chiffon maxi dress can actually be worn in the dead of winter.  I added the following from Piper: Dolan T-shirt maxi cardi ($118), Dolan reversible fur vest ($165), pom pom beret ($18), feather gold necklace ($18), double flower ring ($18), pink braided rope bracelet ($12), and gold feather bracelet ($16).  Not visible are my Missoni for Target pumps. This soft, cozy look is so inviting– the perfect way to re-wear an otherwise very formal summery dress in a casual, wintery way.

I hope this post gives you some ideas for how to restyle your bridesmaid dresses so that they can be re-worn for different events– after all, these beautiful dresses deserve to see the light of day more than once!  I think it’s especially useful to dress down these dresses so that they can be worn in a more casual way, which is much more common for everyday life.

Here are some tips to do a quick restyle:

1. wear the dress as a skirt– add a top and belt it

2. throw on a textured cardigan or jacket to add dimension and visual interest

3. pair with boots to give the dress a casual edge

4. add statement jewelry that you might not have worn as a bridesmaid (examples: chunky necklaces or an arm full of bracelets and rings)

5. wear with patterned tights or knee socks

6. accessorize with a scarf or hat

7. add multiple layers on top of the dress to winterize it, such as a cardigan and faux fur vest or jacket

8. most importantly, have fun with the dress! add pieces that showcase your own unique sense of style to make it your own this time around.  the first wear is for the bride, but every wear after that is for you!

Special thanks to Jocelyn at Ready or Knot for asking me to be your guest blogger for the past 2 days!  Also, thank you to the darling boutiques Chocolate Peacock and Piper for providing such great items to style these dresses.  It was such a fun challenge for me as a stylist.
