Complete Music

Choosing a DJ for your wedding reception can be a difficult task. With so many vendors to choose from, sorting through them all is a challenge. So we asked the experts at Complete Music for some tips and tricks on picking the perfect DJ for you and your groom.

1. Have a Plan B

Make sure the DJ company you book has a back-up plan in place for you. No bride wants to be calling around last minute because their original source backed out.

2. Schedule a Meet & Greet

Allow a meeting to take place either on the phone or in person to discuss all the details ahead of time with your DJ. The key is scheduling the meeting at just the right time. Meet with the DJ too close to the wedding and they may not be able to prepare. But don’t schedule too far in advance either. A DJ thinks about the next 2 or 3 shows, not your wedding that is still six months away.

Keep these great tips in mind when selecting a DJ for your reception. For more information, or to find your DJ, contact Dane Peterson from Complete Music at 402.339.3535 or dane@cmusic.com.

The name says it all. BIGBOW from Stuart Weizman makes a statement with a large satin bow. This sandal is elegant, timeless, and perfect for a Hollywood-inspired bride-to-be. Blonde satin is the perfect neutral hue to subdue the otherwise large personality of this wedding shoe.

Deciding on your wedding bouquet, centerpieces, and all other floral items can be overwhelming – especially if you don’t know where to begin. That’s where today’s expert comes in! Lisa Zulkoski, the HyVee Floral Manager at the 90th and Center location, knows a thing or two about wedding flowers. Here are just a few of her fabulous tips!

1. Choose Your Gown Before Your Flowers

It helps to know the color and style of what you and your maids are wearing, so that your florist can recommend complimentary blooms.

2. Choose Blooms that are in Season

Choosing blooms that are in season will not only help you extend your budget, but also guarantee premium product.  For example: choosing tulips in summer is an option, however, they will be smaller in size than those available in their peak spring season.

A big part of your wedding reception will be the dessert. Whether you make a big, messy scene of cutting the cake, or simply serve cupcakes in a variety of flavors, a lot of planning goes into the desserts. That’s why Brigida Andersen from Cupcake Island is offering you some tips to help get the planning started.

1. Think of Your Guests

Don’t just think of yourself when it comes to cake flavors. Your taste buds differ from those of your guests. After all, you want them to enjoy the food too.

2. Limit Appointment Guests

Don’t take too many people to your cake appointment. Visions differ from you, your mom, your future mother-in-law, sisters, friend, etc. Keep it to two or three people. That way your decorator can really get a sense for your style.

We hope you find these tips useful on the search for your own wedding cake. Don’t forget to stop in to Cupcake Island to see what they have to offer. You can also check out their Facebook Page or call 402.334.6800 to make a tasting appointment.
